Your money is no good here

Part of a collection of essays on TRUST by @futurepaul

The phrase โ€œyour money is no good hereโ€ has two opposite meanings, the second likely an ironic riff on the first:

  1. We dislike or mistrust you so strongly that we will not transact with you.
  2. We like or trust you so strongly that we will serve you for free.

I think this is a nice illustration of how trust and โ€œsocial capitalโ€ can impact real money: it can make โ€œgood moneyโ€ unspendable, and it can make โ€œgood moneyโ€ spend further.
